Six-Principle Baptists
www.secrettolife.info
The history of the General Six-Principle Baptist Church began in 1652 when the historic Providence Baptist Church, which was once associated with Roger Williams, split. The ocassion was the development within the congregation of an Arminian majority who held to the six principles of Hebrew 6:1-2.
Within a very short period of time Six-Principle churches were planted and conferences arose in Rhode Island, Massachusetts and Pennsylvania. The General Six-Principle Baptist Association was formed shortly afterwards which became the first Baptist association of any kind in America. The distinctive doctrine of the Six-Principle Baptists is the "laying-on-of-hands." This Biblically-based ceremony is used in the reception of new members symbolizing the reception of the gifts of the Holy Spirit.
The founders of our particular church started out in 1986. Back then, it was a simple home-church. Our major ministry today focuses on feeding the homeless and needy on the streets of our cities.
In 2003, Rev. K. Cobb, previously ordained in other denominations, and ministries, became an ordained member of the Six Principle Baptists.
We invite you to become a part of the church today and a piece of its history tomorrow.
Beliefs: THE SIX PRINCIPLES
1. Repentance 2. Faith 3. Baptism 4. Laying-on-of-hands 5. Resurrection of the dead 6. Final judgment
We are essentially Arminian in outlook: THE FIVE ARMINIAN ARTICLES OF REMONSTRANTS
1. God has decreed to save through Jesus Christ those of the fallen and sinful race who through the grace of the Holy Spirit believe in him, but leaves in sin the incorrigible and unbelieving.--John 3:36
2. Christ died for all men but no one except the believer has remission of sin.--John 3:16; I John 2:2
3. Man can neither of himself nor of his free will do anything truly good until he is born again of God, in Christ, through the Holy Spirit.--John 15:5
4. All good deeds or movements in the regenerate must be ascribed to the grace of God but his grace is not irresistible.--Acts 7
5. Those who are incorporated into Christ by a true faith have power given them through the assisting grace of the Holy Spirit to persevere in the faith.-- John 10:28
